In this week I finished all making, I had burnished my piece to be fired over the weekend and I now had nothing left to do but create my portfolios. I filmed stop motions of me breaking down my other pieces and adding them into my urn. I took photos of my pieces and I ensured I was up to date with the online work. I also wanted to make sure I gave myself enough time to do extra research to add to my statement about my chosen artifact.
On Wednesday we traveled to Wapping to give away our pieces. This was a very emotional day for me since it finalised the celebration of the journey I had taken. The project had involved so much learning and new discovery and I made sure I put that emotion into my urn and into the farewell. I asked people on the foreshore to add a small piece to the urn to symbolize them adding to my journey because they did. I have met so many people who have influenced my project and I wanted to make sure that was included in the giving away of my piece.
I left my urn on a rock that sat by itself on the shoreline. I think this spot worked perfectly since it allowed the urn to be by itself as the tide came in and swallowed it. I wanted this to happen to relate with the research I did on the bodies being disposed of in the River Ganges, those people are left alone and the river is in charge of taking them. It is also similar to how the bodies would be left after being executed when the execution dock was in practice.
